Sanand, Gujarat : On March 31st Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kaynes Semicon plant at Sanand in Gujarat, underlining India’s growing focus on semiconductor manufacturing and technological advancement. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was present on the occasion along with senior officials and industry leaders.
The facility, developed by Kaynes Technology, is dedicated to semiconductor assembly and testing. It is one of the key projects under the India Semiconductor Mission, which aims to position India as a strong and reliable player in the global semiconductor ecosystem. The plant reflects the country’s long term strategy to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen domestic capabilities in critical technologies.
During his address, the Prime Minister spoke about India’s steady rise in the global semiconductor supply chain. He noted that Indian companies are gradually establishing themselves as dependable contributors and are ready to support a more resilient and balanced global system. He emphasized that the beginning of production at this facility sends a clear message about India’s commitment to becoming a trusted semiconductor supplier.
A key highlight of the event was the handover of a Made in India semiconductor product. The Prime Minister, along with Ramesh Kannan Kothandaraman, presented the product to Stephen Chang of Alpha and Omega Semiconductor. This moment symbolized India’s growing strength in advanced manufacturing and its increasing collaboration with global technology companies.
