JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN — All India Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba said that Congress workers held a protest in Jaipur against the BJP, accusing it of being anti-women.
Speaking about the demonstration, Lamba said that women members of the Congress staged a protest in the Rajasthan capital and burned effigies of the BJP to express their anger. She claimed that the protest was organised to highlight what the party sees as the BJP’s failure to support women’s rights.
Lamba alleged that the BJP-led “double-engine government” is working against the interests of women, and said that her party will continue to oppose it strongly. She added that Congress will not miss any opportunity to raise its voice on issues related to women.
The protest comes amid ongoing political debate over the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam and its implementation. Political parties across the spectrum have been accusing each other over delays and intentions regarding women’s reservation.
Lamba said that women across the country are closely watching these developments and expect political parties to act in their interest. She stressed that the Congress will continue to mobilise support and raise concerns through protests and public outreach.
The demonstration in Jaipur is part of a series of political reactions following recent developments related to women’s reservation and parliamentary proceedings.
Alka Lamba’s remarks reflect the Congress party’s criticism of the BJP, as political tensions continue to rise over women’s rights and representation.
