Jaipur: The southwest monsoon has strengthened across Rajasthan, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue heavy to very heavy rainfall alerts for multiple districts over the next four days.
According to the weather department, an active monsoon system, supported by a cyclonic circulation over northeastern Rajasthan and the monsoon trough passing through the state, is expected to bring widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning across several regions.
The IMD has predicted active monsoon conditions across most parts of Rajasthan over the coming days.
The weather system is expected to bring:
- Widespread rainfall across the state.
- Heavy to very heavy showers in several districts.
- Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.
- Isolated spells of extremely heavy rainfall in some areas.
The most intense rainfall activity is expected in eastern and southeastern Rajasthan, particularly around July 26
The IMD has placed the following districts under an Orange Alert for very heavy rainfall:
- Banswara
- Baran
- Bhilwara
- Bundi
- Chittorgarh
- Dungarpur
- Jhalawar
- Kota
- Pratapgarh
- Rajsamand
- Salumbar
- Udaipur
Residents in these districts have been advised to remain alert for heavy rain, waterlogging, and possible disruptions.
A Yellow Alert has also been issued for numerous districts, including:

Among the highest rainfall figures were:
- Jagpura (Banswara): 167 mm
- Asind (Bhilwara): 120 mm
- Bagore (Bhilwara): 120 mm
- Beawar: 110 mm
- Aklera (Jhalawar): 81 mm
- Jhalrapatan: 73 mm
Rainfall was also reported in:
- Jaipur
- Dholpur
- Sikar
- Jhunjhunu
- Baran
Heavy showers led to waterlogging in low-lying areas and disrupted normal daily activities in some locations. The ongoing rainfall has also brought relief from the summer heat.
Recorded maximum temperatures included:
- Jaipur – 32.7°C
- Ajmer – 27°C
- Alwar – 30°C
- Kota – 29.8°C
- Chittorgarh – 29.6°C
- Dungarpur – 30.8°C
Meanwhile, western Rajasthan remained comparatively hotter, with:
- Jaisalmer – 40°C
- Barmer – 39.3°C
According to the IMD, the active weather conditions are being driven by:
- A cyclonic circulation over northeastern Rajasthan.
- The southwest monsoon trough passing through the state.
- Continuous moisture inflow from the Bay of Bengal.
These systems together are expected to sustain rainfall activity over the next several days. While heavy rainfall may temporarily affect transport and daily life, it is expected to benefit Rajasthan’s agricultural sector.
