Pushkar Singh Dhami Criticises Opposition Over Women’s Reservation Issue

Date:

JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN — Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami criticised opposition parties over the issue of women’s reservation, accusing them of blocking progress on women’s rights.

Speaking in Jaipur, Dhami said that parties like the Congress, DMK, and TMC have shown through their actions that they are not willing to support women’s rights. He alleged that these parties have become obstacles in ensuring greater political representation for women.

Referring to the ongoing debate around the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, Dhami said that the intention of the government was to strengthen women’s participation in politics, but opposition resistance has slowed down the process.

He stated that women in India have played an important role in the country’s development, and it is necessary to ensure that they get equal opportunities in decision-making bodies like Parliament and State Assemblies.

Dhami further said that the delay in implementing reservation affects not just political representation but also the overall empowerment of women, as their voices remain underrepresented in policymaking.

His remarks come amid ongoing political exchanges between the ruling party and the opposition over the Women’s Reservation issue, with both sides accusing each other of having political motives.

Pushkar Singh Dhami’s statement reflects the BJP’s position that opposition parties are responsible for delaying women’s reservation, while the issue continues to remain a key point of political debate.
