JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN — The city of Jaipur is set to witness two significant civic initiatives, focusing on healthcare recognition and urban cleanliness, reflecting the administration’s emphasis on public welfare and community engagement.
According to official information, outstanding nurses will be honoured on May 12, observed as International Nurses Day, in recognition of their dedicated service in the healthcare sector. The initiative aims to acknowledge the crucial role played by nursing professionals in strengthening the public health system.
To ensure a transparent and merit-based selection process, a district-level committee has been constituted to identify the best-performing nurses. The committee will be headed by the District Health Committee Chairman and will include key officials such as the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Principal Medical Officer (PMO), and Nursing Superintendent. Officials stated that the final selection will be made based on the recommendations of this committee, ensuring fairness and credibility in the process.
The move is being seen as an effort to boost morale among healthcare workers, particularly nurses, who serve as the backbone of the medical system. In a parallel development, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation has launched a city-wide cleanliness campaign in the form of a ‘Safai Marathon’, aimed at improving sanitation standards and promoting public participation in maintaining a clean environment.
The campaign was formally flagged off by Municipal Commissioner Om Kasera, who initiated the drive early in the morning. Under this अभियान, cleanliness activities are being carried out across various parts of the city, with teams deployed to ensure thorough sanitation and waste management.
Officials said that the campaign is part of an ongoing effort to enhance urban hygiene, improve public health conditions, and create awareness among citizens about the importance of cleanliness. The administration is also encouraging residents to actively participate in maintaining their surroundings and supporting civic initiatives.
The “Safai Marathon” approach signifies a sustained and intensive effort rather than a one-day activity, with authorities planning to continue the drive across different zones of the city. Special attention is being given to high-traffic areas, residential localities, and public spaces.
