JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN — Rajasthan Director General of Police Rajeev Sharma marked the 77th Rajasthan Police Day by highlighting the force’s historic legacy and its evolving role in maintaining law and order in the state.

Speaking at the ceremony in Jaipur, Sharma described the occasion as a historic milestone, noting that it was on this day in 1948 that the Rajasthan Police was formally unified under the Rajasthan Police Unification Ordinance. He said that the integration of various princely state forces laid the foundation for a modern and cohesive policing system in Rajasthan.

Reflecting on the journey since independence, Sharma stated that the force began with around 20,000 personnel and has since played a crucial role in supporting the state’s development while ensuring peace and stability. Over the decades, he said, the Rajasthan Police has adapted to changing challenges while maintaining its commitment to public service.

He подчеркнул that in recent years, the police have taken strong and effective action against organised crime, including operations targeting smuggling networks, land mafias, and other illegal activities. He also highlighted efforts to tackle emerging threats such as cybercrime, which has become an increasing concern in the digital age.

Sharma further noted that special attention has been given to crimes against women and children, with focused initiatives aimed at prevention, swift investigation, and ensuring justice. He подчеркнул that strengthening public trust and ensuring safety remain top priorities for the force.

The DGP emphasized that maintaining peace and tranquillity is essential for the state’s overall progress, and credited the dedication and professionalism of police personnel for achieving this objective.

The Rajasthan Police Day celebrations also included recognition of outstanding officers and personnel, reflecting the force’s commitment to excellence and accountability.

Rajeev Sharma’s remarks underscored the evolution of the Rajasthan Police from its formation in 1948 to a modern force addressing complex challenges, while continuing its core mission of ensuring safety, security, and public confidence.
