Alka Singh Gurjar Terms Women’s Reservation Bill a Historic Step in Empowering Women..

Date:

JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN — BJP National Secretary Alka Singh Gurjar has described the Women’s Reservation Bill as a landmark reform, calling it a significant step toward strengthening women’s participation in India’s democratic and decision-making processes.

Speaking in Jaipur, Gurjar said that the bill represents a historic effort to integrate women’s empowerment with the broader vision of India’s development in the “Amrit Kaal”, a period that marks the country’s aspirations for progress and transformation in the coming decades. She подчеркнул that the initiative reflects a strong commitment to ensuring that women play a central role in shaping the nation’s future.

Gurjar highlighted that the proposed legislation aims to provide 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and state legislative assemblies, thereby creating a structured pathway for greater political participation. According to her, this move is not only about representation but also about ensuring that women have a direct voice in policymaking and governance.

She noted that women have historically faced barriers in accessing political platforms, and such reforms are essential to correct long-standing imbalances. By enabling more women to enter legislative bodies, the bill seeks to create a more inclusive and representative democratic system.

The BJP leader also emphasized that linking women’s empowerment with national development goals is crucial for achieving balanced growth. She said that increased participation of women in governance can lead to more comprehensive policies, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, social welfare, and economic development.

Gurjar further stated that the bill aligns with the vision of an inclusive and progressive India, where all sections of society have equal opportunities to contribute. She added that empowering women politically also strengthens their position socially and economically, creating a multiplier effect across communities.

Her remarks come at a time when the Women’s Reservation Bill has become a major topic of political discussion across the country. While the ruling alliance has projected it as a transformative reform, opposition parties have raised concerns about its implementation and the processes linked to it, including delimitation.

Gurjar expressed confidence that the bill would receive widespread support, stressing that issues related to women’s empowerment should transcend political differences. She called on all stakeholders to back the initiative in the interest of strengthening democracy and promoting gender equality.

She also pointed out that women constitute a significant portion of the electorate, and their increased representation in legislative bodies would better reflect the aspirations and needs of society as a whole.

Alka Singh Gurjar’s statement underscores the BJP’s position that the Women’s Reservation Bill is a milestone reform, aimed at ensuring meaningful participation of women in governance and advancing India’s journey toward inclusive development.
