Bhajan Lal Sharma Targets Opposition at ‘Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padyatra’, Questions Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

Date:

JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN — Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma launched a strong political attack on opposition parties while addressing the ‘Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padyatra’ in Jaipur, raising questions about their historical record on women’s empowerment.

Speaking at the event, Sharma said that parties which governed the country for decades failed to take meaningful steps for women’s welfare, alleging that they only engaged in vote-bank politics without delivering real change. He questioned their contributions, asking what concrete actions had been taken to improve the status and participation of women in governance and society.

He подчеркнул that when the opportunity finally came to ensure greater representation and rights for women through legislative measures, the opposition failed to support it, referring to the recent developments around the Women’s Reservation Bill.

Sharma stated that this reflects a lack of genuine commitment toward women’s empowerment, suggesting that political considerations were placed above the interests of half the country’s population. He argued that such actions have exposed what he described as the opposition’s true stance on women-related issues.

The Chief Minister highlighted that women across India are increasingly aware and politically conscious, and said that they are closely observing the actions of political parties. He expressed confidence that women voters will respond to these developments and make informed decisions in upcoming elections.

The ‘Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padyatra’ was organised as part of a broader political outreach, focusing on mobilising women and highlighting issues related to their rights, representation, and participation in governance. Party leaders and workers активно participated in the event, aiming to strengthen engagement at the grassroots level.

Sharma also emphasised that women’s empowerment remains a central priority for his government, linking it to broader goals of development and inclusive growth. He отметил that empowering women politically, socially, and economically is essential for building a stronger and more progressive society.

His remarks come amid ongoing political debates over the Women’s Reservation Bill, with both ruling and opposition parties exchanging sharp criticism over its failure to pass in Parliament.

Political observers note that women’s representation has emerged as a key electoral issue, with parties attempting to position themselves as champions of gender equality and empowerment.

Bhajan Lal Sharma’s statement underscores the BJP’s effort to highlight the opposition’s record on women’s issues, while reinforcing its own narrative of promoting women’s rights and participation in governance.
